!!!IARC in LONDON!!! November 10th-16th 2023
IARC London Activities
NOVEMBER 2023
It's that time of year again... the time when we perennially, inevitably, disregard our previous decisions to "save some money this year" and not buy tickets for England-bound flights... because the fine folks at EFG London Jazz Festival have relentlessly good taste + a sturdy proficiency for booking IARC artists. So here we are again, packing our bags and readying to head across the pond. Friends and family in London, we'll catch you soon. See below for where.
((( ...PS... the word is all of these shows below are very close to sell out, so don't sleep on getting your tickets !!! )))
((( ...PPS... stay tuned to our channels for the very likely announcement of a special listening party of upcoming IARC releases, which will probably happen somewhere in London, sometime between November 12th and 14th... )))
ALABASTER DEPLUME
November 10th @ KOKO
First up... a show that's not actually part of London Jazz Fest... Alabaster DePlume plays Friday November 10th at KOKO in Camden, as part of the London edition of Pitchfork Music Festival 2023. Alabaster's lined up an amazing slate of openers, including a soon-to-be-announced new artist on our label (wink wink). Must see show!
MAKAYA MCCRAVEN
November 11th @ Barbican
A very very special performance on Saturday November 11th at Barbican Centre (the very same theatre that hosted our massive CHICAGOxLONDON 2022 label showcase last November... more on that below)... Makaya McCraven performs In These Times with the London Contemporary Orchestra behind him !!!
TOM SKINNER
November 15th @ King's Place
Tom Skinner gathers his working version of the Voices of Bishara ensemble (with Tom Herbert on bass, Kareem Dayes on cello, Chelsea Carmichael and Robert Stillman on woodwinds) for a rare hometown performance, Wednesday November 15th at King's Place.
RESAVOIR
November 16th @ Church of Sound
Producer, composer, bandleader, keys, synth and trumpet player Will Miller is taking the new live version of Resavoir (with Eddie Burns on drums/sampler, William Corduroy on bass, and Kenneth Leftridge Jr on woodwinds) from Chicago to London to take part in the greatest concert series on Earth - that is, Church of Sound at St James the Great in Lower Clapton.
Tracing The Lines:
CHICAGOxLONDON 2022 @ Barbican Centre
In honour of this glorious return to London town... We've published a beautiful series of photos (all taken by Ash Knotek) in the online edition of our label's zine, Tracing the Lines, recapping something magical that happened last time we were there.
It's honestly still hard to believe it actually happened... But Serious / EFG London Jazz Festival really did invite us to present a label night at the legendary Barbican in London, on what happened to be (more or less) the 5 year anniversary of our original, unforgettable CHICAGOxLONDON showcase at Total Refreshment Centre.
It was quite a momentous affair... not to mention SOLD OUT, almost 2000 strong in the house for performances by Jeff Parker, Ben LaMar Gay, Angel Bat Dawid (leading a special one-time ensemble with drummer Asher Gamedze, saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi, and tubaist Theon Cross), and Alabaster DePlume leading a very large group, before he lead an all-hands encore sing-a-long to jaimie branch’s “love song.”
