Carlos Niño & Miguel Atwood-Ferguson - Chicago Waves
available on LP & CD
Niño & Atwood-Ferguson make their leader debuts for IARC with the luminous beauty of Chicago Waves, a meditative improvisation that was recorded live in 2018 at our Chicago HQ, Co-Prosperity Sphere. The digital edition of the album was released on June 26th 2020; and the vinyl edition is a 140-gram black LP (pressed by Pallas in Germany) inside a heavyweight matte jacket (with artwork by Sam Klickner), plus insert sheet with credits & portrait (photographed by Kristie Kahns), IARC obi strip and dome patterned inner-sleeve. Some select critical notes:
“A 44 minute exploration of sound and two musicians really
improvising together deeply.”
– NPR Music
"Beatific calm."
- MOJO Magazine
(★★★★)
"The musicians’ telepathic connection enlivens even the most hushed moments, lending an arresting charge to every microscopic shift."
- Chicago Reader
"Everytime you listen, different joys emerge."
– The Guardian
("Contemporary Album of the Month," July 2020)

Anteloper - Tour Beats Vol. 1
available LP only
Jaimie Branch and Jason Nazary's duo Anteloper follow up 2018's Kudu cassette with this limited edition tour tape-turned-vinyl EP, Tour Beats Vol. 1, released digitally on July 1st 2020. The 45 RPM 12" disc comes in all the customarily decorous IARC dressing, with hyper-chromatic artwork by Jaimie Branch covering the front and back of the heavyweight matte jacket. Album insert also includes liner notes, as poem, by Rob Mazurek. Some notes:
"Dense electronic proposals, strongly influenced by the more exploratory side of instrumental hip hop."
- Rimas e Batidas
"A wide-ranging combination of trumpet, acoustic drums, a Roland TR-08 drum machine, modular synths, effects pedals, electronic triggers and more."
- FACT Mag
"Really, really, good."
- BBC 6 Music
(Tom Ravenscroft's "Spotlight Artist of the Week," August 12th, 2020)
"Anteloper is a space force worth joining.”
- Dusted Magazine
