In March of 2022, International Anthem and Qobuz began a semi-regular series of co-presented shows in the hi-fi confines of Brooklyn's Public Records.

The ongoing series – now approaching the three year mark – has become somewhat of a Big Apple home base for the International Anthem family, as eleven different artists to date have celebrated new or recent releases with IA@PR performances.

In the tradition of International Anthem's affinity for 'capturing the context', and to take full advantage of the acoustically superior Sound Room at Public Records, every single one of these shows has been recorded. Excerpts from four of those shows have already been released on Qobuz, where they are available exclusively for high resolution streaming and download.

Today, we are very happy to release another live EP from this series on Qobuz.

Anna Butterss
International Anthem @ Public Records (Volume 10)

Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, on the final night of a three-night run of International Anthem @ Public Records shows (a run that also featured Jeff Parker's ETA IVtet, SML, Jeremiah Chiu, and Alabaster DePlume), bassist/composer Anna Butterss performed music from their recently-released IARC debut Mighty Vertebrate.

Fronting the group with bass guitar, pedals and electronics, Butterss was accompanied by their working band that features saxophonist Josh Johnson and guitarist Gregory Uhlmann (both of whom Butterss had played with on the previous night, as bandmates in the collective trance-jazz quintet SML), plus drummer Ben Lumsdaine (longtime creative collaborator of Butterss, with whom they co-produced Mighty Vertebrate).

This show was only the third time that Butterss had actually performed these songs live, and for the first time it felt like their band's performances of the tunes were really opening up. "Pokemans" and "Saturno" were major highlights of the show, where the group not only nailed Butterss's prismatic arrangements, but also let loose on some ripping solos (especially via saxophonist Josh Johnson). We are elated today to present these ~15 minutes of music as a digital live EP, exclusively via Qobuz, titled:
Anna Butterss - International Anthem @ Public Records (Volume 10)

THE NEXT EDITION

Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti
& Frank Rosaly's MESTIZX

w/ opening set by Jeremiah Chiu

Tuesday April 1st, 2025
@ Public Records, Brooklyn NY

We share this new live EP as we're just ahead of the next edition of our series.

On Tuesday April 1st, 2025, Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti & Frank Rosaly do the New York debut of their MESTIZX project, which follows the critically-acclaimed album co-released by International Anthem and Nonesuch Records in 2024. The band will be coming in hot, following their performance at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, TN.

The MESTIZX live ensemble for this special show will feature: Matthew Lux (Isotope 217, Iron & Wine) on bass, Ben Boye (Ty Segall, Bonnie Prince Billy) on keyboards, Mikel Patrick Avery (Rob Mazurek, Kurt Vile) on percussions and electronics, and Tomin Perea-Chamblee (Tomin, Standing on the Corner) on trumpet and woodwinds; with Ferragutti on vocals, keyboards, and other instruments, and Rosaly on drums, percussion, and other instruments.

The night will be kicked off with a solo set by synthesist Jeremiah Chiu.

Info/tickets for the show here.
