What people Are Saying

โ€œParkerโ€™s Album Ascends Track By Track With The Majesty Of A New-Build High-Rise Transforming A Skyline.โ€

โ€“ Randall Roberts, Los Angeles Times

โ€œThe Veteran guitarist has created an effortlessly detailed album, full of tradition and experimentation that spans generations. It lives at the vanguard of new jazz music.โ€

โ€“ Steven Arroyo, Pitchfork

โ€œAs The Album Unfolds, It Becomes More Fun To Detect Each Added Piece Of A Different Musical Tradition That Parker Has Successfully Incorporated.โ€

โ€“ Arthur Krumins, Dusted

โ€œโ€ฆa demonstration of how jazz mixes it up with other musics these days. Jeff Parker never did heed jazz borders, coming up in category-resistant bands like Tortoise and the Chicago Underground.โ€

- Kevin Whitehead, NPRโ€™s Fresh Air

โ€œExperimental Music Never Sounded This Welcoming.โ€

โ€“ Thom Jurek, All Music

โ€œLike The New Breed, the new LP blends deep, Dilla-Inspired grooves, clipped R&B samples, and Parkerโ€™s beautiful guitarโ€”often languid, occasionally frenzied, but always powerfully soulful.โ€

The great Jeff Parker is back with new music on International Anthem โ€“ this time it's a single to set off his Summer tour with The New Breed band. IARC0021 is a summery sweet cover of the Georgia Anne Muldrow tune "Blackman." Parker's signature synthy, futuristic Thelonious Monk-ian sound underlays vocals by his daughter Ruby Parker (who sang the hit jam "Cliche" on his 2016 IARC LP The New Breed). The cover art was done by Parker's son Ezra Lou ParkerSchmitt. Following the positive response we received from the physical media for Jeff's "Get Dressed" single in 2016, we decided to release a limited edition version of "Blackman" on 45RPM phongraph flexi disc.

About Jeff Parker

Jeff Parker (1967) is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer. A longtime member of the influential indie-band Tortoise, Parker is recognized as one of contemporary musicโ€™s most versatile and innovative electric guitarists and composers. With a prolific output characterized by musical ideas of angularity and logic, he works in a wide variety of mediums - from pop, rock and jazz to new music - using ideas informed by innovations and trends in both popular and experimental forms. He creates works that explore and exploit the contrary relationships between tradition and technology, improvisation and composition, and the familiar and the abstract.
